Locust Grove - Putnam

The Locust Grove HS graduates from this place (Maplewood) Mary Clare Miller and Forest Walkup.  The 8th grade graduates are Freddie Priest and Durward Fletcher. Also: The literary at LGHS was largely attended on last Friday night. The subject for debate was, “Resolved, that the compulsory school law should be abolished,” and the negative side was victorious. The Jim Crow band of Bainbridge furnished some nice music. Thanks, come again boys! Also: The Yapville school, taught by Miss Lulu Ratcliff, closed on Saturday with appropriate exercises. She will enter school at Terre Haute next week. Her home is at Roachdale and she made many friends in this neighborhood. – kbz
